Sandy Lewis Skaar - My Story

I’m a successful businesswoman. I own two full-time businesses. Self-Directed Choices and Heartfelt Coaching 333. I have grown both businesses from working weekends to working full-time.

I combine my gifts to offer unbeatable individualized business coaching by combining my many gifts to offer unbeatable individualized business coaching. As a psychic medium / social work/coach. But it hasn’t been an easy path.

MY CHILDHOOD - I grew up poor on a farm in rural Michigan. I was abused physically and emotionally. I used to confide in my Great-Grandma Nora about all my sad stories. But one day she died. My heart broke. Who would I tell my sad painful stories to?

Then one day she appeared in my closet. Without her wheelchair. She told me she will always be with me and that she loves me. I was so happy to know Great Grandma was back!

MY TEEN YEARS - When I became old enough to drive, I worked on my self-confidence to obtain three part-time jobs, so I won’t have to work on the farm. I used to physically take my hand to wipe off my sad face and wipe on my happy face to go to work. I would do the reverse when I returned home!

YOUNG ADULTHOOD - When I was 18 years old, Larry asked me to marry him, I did think I loved him. We had a wonderful marriage for 18 years. We were treatment foster parents for 11 years and adopted four special needs kids who are now wonderful, inspiring adults, Paul, Andrew, Kelly (deceased), and Lisa.

MY MID LIFE - DIVORCE & INTUITION - The sudden impact of my divorce after being married 18 years, shattered me. I remember setting on my back porch looking in the Bible trying to find permission for a divorce. As my sister had said divorce was against God. I finally decided to do a six-month separation and then filed for divorce. Again, my Great Grandma Nora and my intuition pulled me through this dark time to continue to raise my daughter Lisa with brain injuries own my own (very challenging). It was final on Valentine’s Day 1989.

In May 1989, I completed my BA in Health Services Administration & Gerontology during this very difficult time. In May 2007, I graduated with my Master of Social Work and Minor in Gerontology. I also worked with three hospices and the University of New Mexico Information and Referral Center.

MEETING MY SOUL MATE

When I met my current husband, I told him I was a package deal I had four kids and a previous husband! To date, Don and I have been happily married for thirty years. However, we have had our challenges!

STARTING MY 1ST BUSINESS USING MY INTUITION GREW TO A THRIVING BUSINESS!

You see when I first started my business Self-Directed Choices, in 2017, I was all business and all analytical. I had graduated with my Master’s in Social Work and a Minor in Gerontology, I was used to analyzing everything. I was not at the point where I was running a “Heart-Centered” business model. I needed to make a shift from my analytical mindset to my heart-centered mindset.

Let me go back a little to this point of my career when I was starting to grow this business, I had left a full-time position as State Program Director with the Alzheimer’s Association to work part-time at the University with Movement Clinics and Parkinson’s we could bring my son, Paul, with disabilities here to live with us. This would allow me the time to take care of him. But right after starting my part-time job at the University, without warning my husband lost his job.

I was devastated and so scared. I was living in FEAR every day. Paul wasn’t going to be able to come live with us. Because I didn’t know if I was going to have enough money to eat let alone have a place to live. I was living in FEAR that a lot of you have probably can relate too, right?

The business analytical piece of me was taking over as I was still coming from the place of

THEN SOMETHING SHIFTED I began realizing I was giving and caring for others but not giving or caring about ME. I REALIZED I NEEDED TO BECOME MORE HEART-CENTERED WITHIN ME before I could help anyone else.

I began re-exploring my divine roots through meditation, I journaled to clear my thoughts, created visualization maps to bring my future into my present I read and studied under various authors, whose information I already had on my bookshelves, and most importantly I re-committed myself to the Divine.

And NOW I ENJOY HAVE TWO THRIVING BUSINESSES And I confidently without fear employ 23 employees and OVER 600 clients statewide. I plan to retire from Self-Directed Choices next year and sell to the agency to an employee I’ve been mentoring for the last six years. I’m not retiring, my Angels, Guides, and divine passion to do Heartfelt Coaching 333 full time as it is my passion to help each of you ACTIVATE YOUR INTUTION!
